MERRIWA came close to an aggregate win, failing by just a single shot. The girls dropped into seventh place after a game they could so easily have won. Veronica Thysse, Gail Kempton, Barbara Wilkins and Maggie Edgar had a great start to lead 9-3 on five but Osborne Park hit back to to take the game 16-15. It was just as tight in the other game where Lyn Sibson, Fay Stanley, Ellaine Jopling and Julia Barron critically dropped three shots on the 16th end to go behind 15-18. But Merriwa rallied to force a draw and claim half a point for the team.
